Join Us in Vegas! Blogalicious 2012 Conference Pass {Giveaway}

Blogalicious 2009 Photo courtesy of Be Blogalicious/Flickr

I first met the Blogalicious conference organizers during the BlogHer 2009 conference. I was excited to see a new conference in the scene that was promoting and supporting diversity in social media. The Blogalicious ladies were passionate about their mission and it showed.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the first Blogalicious Weekend in 2009 due to the job I had at that time. However, I was able to join the Blogalicious community in 2010 in a big way – as co-host of the ¡Parranda! party and as a speaker. It’s been a pleasure to get to know this community over the last couple of years and I was humbled this year when Stacey Ferguson, chief curator of Be Blogalicious, entrusted me to help craft this year’s conference agenda as Director of Content for Blogalicious 2012.

Working so closely with the Blogalicious team has allowed me to see that the passion that existed back in 2009 still persists. This year’s conference theme is “Make it Personal” and we’ve worked hard so that the speakers and sessions on the agenda reflect that theme.

In addition, I’m happy to be speaking this year and support the conference as a media partner. I’ll be speaking along with many other respected individuals on the Blog Community Jam Session. I definitely would love for you to be there!

Since Ella Media is a media partner of the Blogalicious Weekend Conference, we want to help you get to Vegas and join the fun! The conference organizers have graciously provided us with two free conference passes to give to you!

I make it personal on my blog by always sharing about my family, even when reviewing products. Rather than just give facts, I talk about why my family needs/wants/loves it and how it fits into our lives.

Thanks for the chance to win!!

How do I make it personal? :)
I buck the system naturally. I don’t want to fade into the background. So everything from my name, my writing style and topics… all just a bit off the beaten path. I always talk about my family and not always just the happy days. I let my readers see and feel that there’s a real person behind the screen. We’re flawed. I let you know when my family is driving me crazy. I’m ok not being a pink hearts and rainbows mommy blogger. I rather love my imperfect life. And, when you make it personal, people will always connect and feel your genuine. I don’t want to be a copy of someone I like to read. I want to have my readers love to read my personal stories as well.
I have taken a bit of heat from PR for some *colorful* language at times, but that’s me. It’s my personality. I think to edit and whitewash would depersonalize my life, my personality and as a result, i would fade into the background. I have awesome PR that feels my uniqueness is what makes me stand out and the very reason they chose to work with me as well.
Everyone should ‘Make It Personal’… It’s the only way to make real, meaningful and lasting connections.
I think the cool kids say ‘You do you.. I’ll do me”…

We discuss personal stories that many women deal with on a daily basis. Recently, I’ve been talking about weight loss and the challenge I’ve been working through.

I make it personal by keeping my blog a true reflection of who I am. I share the good and the bad. The fun, and the not so fun. I love sharing through photos and stories of our daily life happenings and all that goes with it.

I think anytime you are authentic with who you are and what your interested in, you’re sharing a personal experience with your readers. That being said I run my site just as I would when talking with friends/family. I’m relaxed and approachable as I would be in my home and I think readers want to connect to the words on the screen, or its just a dead end.

I love all the things I include on both my sites, which carries over to my readers. It’s a give and take when writing for others. Not only do they want to get something from their visit, so do I. I want to be engaged when I read others sites & realize they also want that from me too!

I don’t “sell” our family experiences for the coveted ‘hits’, rather I include my readers as if I would be sharing a funny story with my friends. It’s me & my keyboard folks & I love it for the last 3.5 years I’ve been blogging!

I make it personal sharing about my adventures with my readers in my posts and in my videos. Letting them know who I really am, being transparent and honest. What they read is how I really feel.

I think make it personal means to be real with your followers by answering any personal question that i’m able to response, and be responsible for what i post.

I make my site personal by sharing my science and Spanish background to learn Spanish, and to make it easier for those that want to educate themselves in all areas of Spanish and science. Promoting bilingual education for parents and educators is important in an era of multiple cultures, traditions, and heritage.

It’s great to connect with you :)

I make it personal by using personal stories to bring awareness about the importance of raising children who are proud of their heritage, culture and language. I also make it persona by using my blog as a tool to advocate and empower families of children who are dual language learners and children with disabilities/special needs.

My blog is all about our personal journey as a family and as a chronic medical patient. I live with a failed pituitary gland, which makes life difficult in many ways. My son is busy and difficult, has ADHD, or maybe Asperger’s, it’s still being diagnosed. My husband is dyslexic and teaches gifted and talented students. I am a psychology major. I don’t believe in secrets and reveal practically everything about myself and my family in the hopes that our journey can help someone else. Some things are hard to talk about, but that makes them even more important. I have made so many friends and related with many people who struggle like I do. I hope that i have also made a difference.
